Day Fourteen: Truth
THE INVITATION YOU RECEIVED
C.S. Lewis wrote, “You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you.”
Often, we come to terms with the truth when we have no other choice. The truth is like light. It illuminates and exposes what is real. This is why Jesus claimed if people followed Him and His teachings, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
When life gets messy and everything around us comes crashing down, we long for an anchor in the storm that’s unchanging, timeless and true — just like a seat belt that safely holds you tightly in a car accident. What we read or hear, the Bible is the only sure and unchanging source of truth in this life.
DAY THIRTEEN DEVOTIONAL
Scripture: 1 John 1:5-10
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[b] sin.
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
