And… We’re Having A Baby!

Moving to Denver, church planting and having our first child? Apparently, 2022 is our year! 🎉

For the last year and a half, we’ve had a desire to start our family and at first, the waiting was fine but eventually, it got to a point where it became discouraging, especially after the doctor told us that it wasn’t likely to happen anytime soon. Through this, the Lord continued to press into our hearts to trust him and he confirmed to us over and over again that our heart’s prayer would come to pass – in his time.

THE DRAWING
We’re incredibly blessed to have some amazing, Spirit-filled friends and one of these friends has an incredible gift of art and God used this gift to confirm to us his plan. On a Sunday night in October 2021, I was preaching to our High School students and in a way that is difficult to explain, the night felt different and I felt off. While the Lord would ultimately use this night to confirm that Sarah and I were supposed to begin the process of church planting, there was another surprise awaiting us.

That night, as I was speaking our friend felt the Lord give her a vision of us and she began to draw what she saw in her mind. As she showed me the picture, I began to weep as this vision not only showed us as church planters in Colorado (where we felt called) but also showed us with a family – something we were praying for but she wasn’t aware of this at the time.

THE GOD DREAM
While God had used other means of confirming his promise to bless us with a child, one of the most powerful stories I will always remember was the dream God gave Sarah in January 2022.

Sarah doesn’t often share her dreams or talk about dreaming of being pregnant, but one morning she shared with me a dream she had where she was holding a positive pregnancy test and I was standing in the background wearing a black First Student’s hoodie. Weeks passed, multiple negative pregnancy tests later and the dream seemed to fade away.

On one Saturday morning, I had woken up before Sarah so I decided to go downstairs, drink some coffee and have my quiet time in the Word. I felt led to read through Hebrews 11 and began reading how Sarah, by faith, was given a child even in her old age. In that moment, I felt the Spirit strongly press me to begin praying and so I began to pray that God would fulfill what he had promised us and would answer our prayers that we had believed in faith!

While praying, I could hear a faint noise coming from upstairs and as the sound grew louder, I realized it was the sound of Sarah crying. Not knowing what had happened, I bolted upstairs to check on her, only to see her holding a pregnancy test in her hand and the word “pregnant” displayed on the screen!

A few years ago, I would have told you this was a crazy coincidence – but now, I would tell you that I serve a God who does crazy things in and through our lives! These moments, marked with several others, will serve as a reminder to us (and prayerfully an encouragement to you) to believe God, even when it seems impossible. Especially, when it seems impossible. God is speaking – learn how to listen to him, pick up your Bible & begin to pray!

If there’s something in your life that’s been on your heart that others would say is crazy or impossible, we want to believe in God for great things with you! Let us know how we can pray with you here! We want to join you in prayer!

We are so incredibly thankful for the love, support and encouragement that has already been shared with us. We've had people ask about a registry, and while we don’t expect anything, if you feel led, the link to our registry is below!
